World Cup Group A

After two rounds of games in Group A we are almost sorted as in who is staying on for the last 16 and who is catching the plane home. Well one team will be staying but not playing it Tuesday next doesn't provide the miracle results needed.
South Africa as hosts are under pressure and indeed the pressure showed in their 3-0 defeat against Uruguay on Wednesday night in Pretoria. Uruguay indeed have impressed me as well as others with their spirit and fight. Diego Forlán took his goals well with his first a stunning strike that looped over Itumeleng Khune and his 2nd a nice penalty with Álvaro Pereira bundling over the third when South Africa were finally beaten. Indeed the Uruguayans will feel they should've beaten France but for Nicolás Lodeiro to be sent-off.
Mexico are a side that laboured their way to be here but they are now showing the promise of all Mexican sides down the years with their four points from a possible six so far. France were there for the taking and well Mexico deserved their victory which was helped by a Javier Hernández goal and a nice penalty from veteren Cauthémoc Blanco.
That result leaves France in the position of being sent-home early. Their fate is now out of their hands and need to beat South Africa, who like themselves still have a mathematical chance of reaching the last 16 by five if either Uruguay or Mexico are defeated.

  1. Uruguay 4 Points 3-0 +3
  2. Mexico 4 Points 3-1 +2
  3. France 1 Point 0-2 -2
  4. South Africa 1 Point 1-4 -3
